Did Stober Elementary’s Boundary Change for Paramount Heights When Vivian Closed?

Yes. Jeffco Public Schools closed Vivian Elementary and consolidated it into Stober Elementary starting with the 2023-24 school year, so Stober now serves Vivian’s former students. Recent Paramount Heights listings show Stober, Everitt Middle and Wheat Ridge High, but confirm any address with Jeffco.

Paramount Heights is a small mid-century neighborhood in Wheat Ridge, with homes along Skyline Drive, Hillside Drive and the surrounding streets near Kipling Street. Its elementary school, Stober, sits about a mile southwest at 2300 Urban Street, with a Lakewood mailing address.

Stober changed in 2023. When the Jeffco Public Schools board voted to close 16 elementary schools, nearby Vivian Elementary was one of them, and Vivian’s students moved to Stober. Older listings, school directories and neighbor conversations can still reflect the pre-2023 setup, which is why the question comes up when homes in and around Paramount Heights go on the market.

Jason Sirois is a Denver Realtor with FORM at Compass and an Applewood resident. Here is what changed, what it means for Stober’s attendance area, what is happening to the old Vivian site, and what to check for a specific address.

What happened to Vivian Elementary

Jeffco staff recommended the closures on August 25, 2022, and the Board of Education voted on November 10, 2022, according to the district’s Phase I recommendation page. The consolidations took effect for the 2023-24 school year.

The district listed the school as New Classical Academy at Vivian Elementary and consolidated it into Stober. Vivian’s Center Program, a separate program that had been housed at the school, moved to Maple Grove Elementary instead. Vivian sat at 10500 W 25th Ave in Lakewood.

Two other closures from the same vote matter to this part of Jefferson County. Kullerstrand Elementary was consolidated into Prospect Valley, and Wilmore-Davis Elementary into Stevens. Our post on Kullerstrand Elementary and Applewood Knolls covers that change.

Did Stober’s attendance area change?

Yes, in the sense that matters for buyers: Stober took in the students who had attended Vivian. LOA Architecture, which designed Stober’s expansion, says the addition was needed to make room for about 240 students who previously attended Vivian and now attend Stober.

The district’s Phase I page does not publish a before-and-after boundary map for each consolidation. It does say a school could only be consolidated if a receiving school less than 3.5 miles away could serve its students within the same articulation area. Stober is part of the Wheat Ridge articulation area, which feeds Everitt Middle School and Wheat Ridge High School.

How Stober made room

Stober added a two-story wing on the east side of the building with four classrooms, a music room, restrooms and an outdoor classroom to the north that doubles as an amphitheater, according to LOA Architecture. Jeffco held a beam signing for the addition on October 30, 2023, and reported the new wing open in September 2024.

Stober serves kindergarten through fifth grade, with full-day kindergarten, and its website says it serves more than 360 students. We are not ranking or rating schools here. Programs, class sizes and culture are best checked directly with the school and through a visit.

Which schools serve Paramount Heights today?

Recent listing records for Paramount Heights homes, such as a 2025 sale on Skyline Drive, list Stober Elementary, Everitt Middle and Wheat Ridge High in Jeffco Public Schools. That matches the Wheat Ridge articulation area, which Jeffco lists as Maple Grove, Peak Expeditionary – Pennington, Prospect Valley, Stevens and Stober for elementary, Everitt for middle school and Wheat Ridge for high school.

Paramount Heights addresses carry a Wheat Ridge 80215 ZIP code, while Stober and the former Vivian site both have Lakewood addresses. Mailing addresses do not decide school assignments in Jeffco. The district’s attendance boundaries do, so the reliable step is to check the exact address with Jeffco rather than relying on a ZIP code, a listing or a neighbor’s experience.

Paramount Heights is also close to the Applewood area, and our post on Jeffco Public Schools ballot issues 5A and 5B explains what is on the November 2026 ballot for the district.

What is happening to the old Vivian site?

The building did not stay empty for long. Jeffco sold the Vivian property to developer Carlson Associates, which plans single-family homes, and the City of Lakewood separately bought roughly two acres for $596,720 to keep as parkland, the Jeffco Transcript reported in December 2025.

The city’s Vivian Park page lists the park at 2445 Miller Street and says the residential developer will dedicate up to one more acre, for up to three acres of park. A future public engagement process will decide the park’s amenities. On September 23, 2026, Lakewood’s Planning Commission approved a final plat for the Vivian Subdivision with 31 single-family lots and three tracts that include park dedications, on the condition that the school building is demolished before the plat is recorded, according to a published summary of the meeting.

What buyers and sellers should check

  • Look up the exact address with Jeffco Public Schools before relying on a listing’s school fields.
  • Expect some older listings and directories to still mention Vivian. It has not operated as a Jeffco elementary since the 2022-23 school year ended.
  • Ask Jeffco about open enrollment if you are interested in a school other than your neighborhood school, and note the application dates.
  • For sellers, make sure your listing names the current schools, so buyers are not confused by older records.
