This week I’ve been involved in several conversations with other agents about pricing strategy, the recent slow down in showings (which happens every 3-day weekend) and price drops (abundant last week) in addition to some great dialogue with our Compass Colorado marketing team about creative ways to keep our listings top of mind and our branding sharp. This productive dialogue has made me feel grateful to be in the room with so many smart minds and it got me thinking… those who collaborate without ego seem to always be at the top of the leaderboards.
Real estate is a habitual sport and it’s easy to get siloed into thinking your marketing idea or pricing/offer strategy, that has resulted in several recent wins for your clients, is the right path to stay on to produce similar results. It’s only natural right? Yes… but the environment around the player is always changing (rates, neighborhood nuances, holidays, seasonality, weather, playoff sports), meaning last week’s playbook is unlikely to be the winning formula next week. This week’s conversations with team members, great agents, and the Compass marketing team have reminded me that the exercise of blind spot monitoring or sanity checking with peers and fellow experts prior to making a final decision often reveals ideas and strategies that aren’t always obvious through the lens of only one pair of eyes. In our world, a misstep can result in thousands of dollars lost for our clients while a great marketing idea could result in thousands of dollars made for our clients… Collaborating without ego is the tide that lifts all boats and reduces missteps.
